DESCRIPTION OF THE TOUR
This walking tour is designed and focused to “The experience”:
In fact you will be asked to use your 5 senses to explore the city of Florence:
“Smell“: we start with the “Santa Maria Novella pharmacy” smelling ancient parfumes invented by the Dominican friars in the XIII century.
“Hearing“: we listen to the bells and the sounds of the city in the Duomo square.
“Sight“: we stroll through narrow alleys in the city center, passing by tall Medieval towers and Renaissance palaces. We challenge our “sight” to discover hidden details and to hunt the coat of arms of ancient rich and power families.
“Touch“:we stop at some artisans’ workshops (opening times permitting) to discover either how to decorate paper or mint an old gold coin.
“Taste“: we end up with a blinded gelato tasting in a known local place! Are you able to recognise different gelato flavours if blinded?
Along our walks we will have the chance to visit the most iconic sightseeings of the “cradle of the Renaissance”: Piazza Santa Maria Novella, Piazza del Duomo with its elegant and yet impressive Dome (designed in 1294), Piazza della Signoria where the Fountain of Neptune, the Loggia dei Lanzi and the Uffizi Gallery will catch your eye, Ponte Vecchio the most famous bridge in Florence and an enduring symbol of the city.
