DESCRIPTION OF THE TOUR
We begin the tour from Iano, and from here we enter Via Costia, where we have the chance to see the typical panorama of the Tuscan hills and the evocative “badlands“, landslides characteristic of clayey soils. The route proceeds along dirt roads, with ascents and descents, typical of the Tuscan hills, until reaching Castelfalfi, an ancient village characterized by an imposing castle, where it is possible to make a stop.
From here we can continue with a more challenging route within the wood, or on a asphalt road, which is still very impressive. Arrived in San Vivaldo we immerse ourselves in the mystical atmosphere of the “Jerusalem of Tuscany“, eventually deciding for a brief stop.
The route continues briefly on a paved road and then into the woods to reach the Sanctuary of Pietrina, where you can see the remains of an ancient castle and enjoy a unique view of Volterra. From here we descend to the ancient village of Palagio, to then finish our journey back to the starting point.
