This was such a wonderful experience. Both of our guides were so nice and friendly. We were also running late and they still waited for us and gave us the whole experience regardless. Our 6-year old was so excited to ride a horse. He was so proud to be sitting on the biggest horse by himself. They also had a pony ready four our youngest (4years) but he changed his mind last minute.
As for the ride, it was peaceful, beautiful. Tuscany at it’s finest, view by the trail, peace, quiet.
They also took us to a place where they took pictures of us on the horses, wich they later sent to us.
And also, even driving through those tuscany hills, to get there, was an experience in itself. It is beautiful. I wish we can return sometime

If you’ve never ridden a horse before, there’s nothing to worry about. Benedetta and Peter, expert guides, will accompany you on a short introductory training session at the riding stables. Thanks to the extraordinary docility and calmness of our horses, carefully selected and trained to ensure maximum safety, even complete beginners can immediately enjoy a wonderful and relaxing ride along the paths of our private park and through the surrounding hills of Montaione.

Children’s Paradise: First Ride and Pony Ride

The Belmonte Vacanze riding stable specializes in welcoming little ones. We believe that meeting a horse is an educational and exciting experience, which is why we’ve designed tailor-made activities for children ages 3 and up:

First Ride: The very first and unforgettable contact between a child and a horse, guided step by step by our qualified staff to overcome any fears in complete safety.
Pony Ride: Short pony or horseback rides within our estate, designed especially for young riders.
Walks on the Property Trails: Protected excursions lasting approximately 40 minutes along the trails within the farmhouse, where children are accompanied on foot by an expert guide who follows them and holds the horse for the entire duration.

Note for parents: You can join your children in this activity to share a magical moment and take unforgettable photos of your family vacation in Tuscany!

Are the rides suitable for people who have never been on a horse?

Yes, the horses are suitable for first-time riders and instructions will be provided before departure.

Where do the walks take place?

The horseback rides take place in the rolling hills of the Montaione countryside in Iano, between Volterra and San Gimignano.

What level of difficulty are the routes?

There are various routes through the hills with breathtaking views, of varying length and difficulty based on the rider’s experience level.

Can children also participate in the horseback rides?

Children aged 14 and over can participate in all walks, or they can take part in the 40-minute walk around the property led by a walking guide.

Can younger children go for a walk?

Children aged 3 to 5 can have their first taste of riding (a 30-minute ride on private property, accompanied by a guide who will hold the horse).

What clothing is recommended?

It is advisable to wear long trousers and closed shoes. We will provide helmets and, for children under 14, a protective vest.

What paces are used for walking?

Just step.

How long do you need to arrive before the walk?

You must arrive 20 minutes early for helmet and horse assignments and introduction.

Is the Riding Tuscany riding stables located within the Belmonte Vacanze farmhouse?

Yes, the RidingTuscany riding stables are located within the Belmonte Vacanze farmhouse and can be reached on foot from your apartment. The stables are managed directly by our Belmonte Vacanze farmhouse staff. The stables are also open to external guests who are not staying at the farmhouse. The Ridingtuscany stables also have a dedicated website (ridingtuscany.com) where you can learn more about our horseback riding activities.
